But eventually, she started having health complications which forced her to retire from this profession. One of her best friends decided that she could not sit at home this way and sulk. Adela Garcia

The 38 year old woman was born in the Dominican Republic and at the age of 8 she left for Puerto Rico where she grew up.


She was very athletic in school and took part in a variety of sports like softball, volleyball and basketball. She started weight training when she was 17 years old. By 1995 Garcia knew she wanted to become a fitness professional and with this goal in mind she started taking part in competitions. She went on to earn her pro card by winning the NPC USA Fitness Championship in 1999. The following year she made her pro debut in the Ms. Fitness International competition where she finished in an impressive 8th place on debut.


On a personal note, Adela used to compete under the name Adela Garcia-Friedmansky for a number of years when she was married to Brian Friendmansky. After they split up, Garcia was seeing bodybuilder Lee Priest for a long time and was even engaged to him.
