Featuring on the Top 10 IFBB Ms Fitness Olympia list Tanji Johnson is a professional fitness competitor associated with the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB). More popularly known by her screen name Stealth, Johnson is quite a well known face because of her appearances on the show American Gladiators. Born in Bamberg, Germany, Johnson was an Army brat who spent her youth in living in Germany and Korea. After her father’s retirement, they returned to settle in South Carolina where she did her schooling. She went to college at the U.S. Air Force Academy and was a varsity cheerleader as well as a member of the cadet Honor Guard. She experienced army life by going through several intense military programs like survival training and Marine Corps officer training.
After leaving the Air Force, Tanji Johnson saw fitness as an entertaining and challenging way to not just promote a healthy lifestyle but also help change society’s concept of what a “real woman” should be. She started taking part in fitness competitions in 1998 and has been involved in the industry for over 10 years now. Apart from being on the Top 10 IFBB Ms Fitness Olympia, she is also currently ranked as 4th in the world in IFBB Pro Fitness. Along with this she has 5 IFBB fitness titles and was tipped to be a strong contender for the next Olympia Champion. She proved that taking 2nd place in the competition to Adela Garcia. Despite being the runner-up, Tanji has received a lot of recognition because of the Pro Fitness competition.
Besides competing in fitness events as well running in marathons, Tanji serves as a personal trainer and coach. She is also a contributing writer for Faith & Fitness, NPC News and Bodybuilding.com. Tanji is a well know face on television starring as Stealth on NBC’s revival of the American Gladiators. Besides television, she has also modeled for Oxygen, Muscle & Fitness, H2O and Natural Muscle Magazine. Interestingly, she is a businessperson with her clothing label Excellent Spirit, while being on the Top 10 IFBB Ms Fitness Olympia 2009.
